Atomic Real Baitz – Blue Pilchard | Pre-Rigged Softbait Swimbait

The Atomic Real Baitz Blue Pilchard is a highly realistic soft plastic swimbait designed to replicate the natural profile, colouration and movement of a blue pilchard. Developed for anglers targeting hard-hitting saltwater predators, this ready-to-fish lure combines lifelike baitfish imitation with a carefully balanced internal weighting system and premium Gamakatsu hooks.

Built to handle demanding fishing conditions in New Zealand waters, the Blue Pilchard delivers an enticing tight wobble and rolling action, both on the retrieve and as it sinks through the water column. Its natural horizontal sink and subtle downward swimming angle make it particularly effective on the drop, when predatory fish often strike unsuspecting baitfish.

Whether fishing deep reef structures, offshore pinnacles or inshore baitfish schools, the Atomic Real Baitz Blue Pilchard is a versatile option for targeting snapper, kingfish, tuna and other aggressive saltwater predators.

Swimming Action & Fishing Techniques

A Natural Sink That Triggers Strikes

One of the standout features of the Atomic Real Baitz Blue Pilchard is its precision-balanced internal weighting.

As the lure sinks, it maintains a natural horizontal posture with a subtle downward swimming angle, closely imitating a vulnerable baitfish. Combined with its tight wobble, rolling body movement and active tail action, this presentation can trigger aggressive strikes before the angler even starts winding.

Pro Tips for Better Results

• Tip 1 – Fish the Drop: Cast or drop the lure over reef structures and allow it to sink naturally through the water column. Watch your line closely, as predators may strike while the lure is descending.
• Tip 2 – Use a Slow Lift-and-Drop Retrieve: Gently lift the rod tip before allowing the lure to sink again. This keeps the baitfish imitation moving naturally through the strike zone.
• Tip 3 – Maintain Your Gear: After every saltwater fishing session, rinse the pre-rigged Gamakatsu hook and hardware with fresh water and allow them to dry thoroughly to help maximise their service life.
